An explosion occurred at the Tambov Gunpowder Plant. There are casualties.

About the explosion in the room Tambov Gunpowder Plant сообщает Rossiyskaya Gazeta, citing the regional office of the Ministry of Emergency Situations, reported that emergency services received a fire alert at 14:10 PM.

According to the publication "Mash", the explosion happened in workshop No. 3, after which a fire broke out. The open fire was extinguished within seven minutes.

Channel 112 reports five dead and 12 injured. Other media outlets report four dead.

The Tambov Gunpowder Plant is located in Kotovsk, and explosions have occurred on its premises before. In 2016, an emergency killed five employees.

UPD: According to the governor Tambov region Maxim Egorov, the cause of the "bang followed by combustion" was Human factor. The possibility of a terrorist attack is not being considered.

The governor confirmed there were casualties but did not yet specify their number. He said the plant's workers and residents of neighboring communities are not in danger. The plant continues to operate normally, and production has not been halted.
