Journalist Ivan Safronov, accused of treason, spent several days in solitary confinement.

In early June, the administration of Correctional Colony No. 7 in Krasnoyarsk Krai placed journalist Ivan Safronov in a punishment cell, and then in the medical unit.

Safronov spoke about this. рассказал In a correspondence with civil activist Olga Elsakova, he began writing the letter to her on June 1st and finished it only on June 18th.

"Today is June 18th, Sunday—and I couldn't finish this message because I was locked up in solitary confinement that same day, then transferred to the medical unit—and, apparently, will be returned there on Tuesday (June 21st). The start of summer hasn't been going so well. But expecting anything different from the Russian penitentiary system would be naive, to say the least—everything can change drastically, literally in an instant," Safronov writes in his letter.
