Yekaterinburg environmental activists have reported violations during the reconstruction of Engels Park.

Activists from the Parks and Squares community were outraged that special signs were not installed around the trees during the renovation. Moreover, they weren't even included in the budget. says in an appeal on the movement's Telegram channel. 

"So-called 'scratches' appear naturally on tree trunks. This is inevitable when using machinery. According to local residents, one of the stripped birches has already been simply cut down. The photo shows a second birch with a fresh 'scratch'." — the activists write. Such damage to the bark can lead to disease and death of the tree. 

In addition, the park's soil is eroded and compacted, and construction materials are stored right next to tree trunks, which is unacceptable, as this is a specially protected natural area. 

The lack of control over the presence of protective fences for trees violates landscaping regulations. Yekaterinburg, according to Parks and Squares. Activists have already filed a complaint with the administration.

Let us add that the general director of UMMC-Agro is Ilya Bondarev, executive director of the Yekaterinburg Urban Agglomeration Association, former head of the regional Ministry of Agriculture, and former deputy chairman of the Sverdlovsk Region government. He was elected to the Legislative Assembly as a member of United Russia.
