"We are cut off from the rest of the Russian Federation and live between heaven and earth.", says a resident of the village Prirechny Pudozhsky district of Karelia.

There's no cell phone service in the village. The landline and the only payphone stop working when it rains. The only store is in danger of closing: without internet, the cash register doesn't work.

The village well "completely broke and collapsed," leaving residents without access to drinking water.

Pensions are transferred to cards, but there are no terminals or ATMs. There's also no post office. There's a first aid post, but it doesn't carry medications—for "any aspirin," you have to go to the district center. Pudozh, 70 km away.

Even the TV constantly freezes, although there are signal amplifiers in every house.
