"Autumn in Kolomna" made with pumpkin and Antonov apples

A recipe with the poetic title "Autumn in Kolomna" was sent to NeMoskva by regular reader Anastasia Yaroslavtseva.
"Autumn in Kolomna is the season for Antonov apples. They're used in the famous Kolomna pastila, figs, jam, and an unusual preserve I call 'Autumn in Kolomna.' It's thick, not too sweet, yet incredibly delicious." — Anastasia wrote to us.

1. Ingredients for making jam:
Pumpkin - 400-500 grams, apples ("Antonovka" or "Bogatyr") - 3-4 pieces, 1 orange, 1/2 cup peeled and ground walnuts, 2,5 cups sugar.

2. Peel the pumpkin, remove the seeds, and cut into cubes. Place the cubes in a 4,5-liter (or larger) saucepan, add the walnuts, sprinkle with sugar, and let sit for 2 hours. During this time, the pumpkin will release its juices.
When the time has passed, begin to cook the resulting mixture over low heat for about 30 minutes, until the pumpkin pieces darken and become soft.

3. Dice the apples, add the chopped apples and orange slices (with the peel but without the seeds) to the pan and start stirring.

4. The jam will be ready in 10–15 minutes. You can pour it into jars and invite guests over for tea.
