"Hello, good wizards!" Cherepovets residents proposed erecting a monument to a girl who died of cancer and brought people together.

"Hello, good wizards! Polina is with you..." — this is how Polina Morozova began each post addressing those who raised money for her treatment and provided emotional support. Polina had been undergoing cancer treatment since 2016; she passed away on the night of November 3. Residents of Cherepovets thought about a monument for a girl who was able to awaken compassion, kindness and hope in them.

Polina had leukemia. She underwent several courses of chemotherapy and a bone marrow transplant; the disease retreated for a while, but then returned. A fundraiser was launched for treatment in Israel. The amount seemed insurmountable—27 million rubles. But thousands of Cherepovets residents responded, and the money was raised. On September 8, Polina and her mother returned to Russia after treatment. They were unable to help her.

A few days after Polina's passing, a proposal to preserve the girl's memory in the city appeared on social media:

“Because this girl united thousands of people, revived love, kindness and compassion in many hearts.”

Opinions were divided. Some considered the idea "over the top," while others suggested creating a monument to all those who have faced "this terrible disease," to reflect the endless patience and hope of those afflicted.
