In Chelyabinsk, they are demanding the mayor resign.

More than 9 thousand people signed petition demanding the resignation of the head of Chelyabinsk Natalia Kotova.

The author of the document is Bogdan Kotomin, believes that the quality of life in the city has significantly worsened over the past couple of years, and the mayor, who is failing to fulfill her duties, is responsible for this.

«Our city hasn't been cleared of snow for two weeks, leading to 11-point traffic jams on the first workday after the holidays. Public transportation runs only once an hour, leaving people stuck. Garbage isn't being removed from courtyards. Main thoroughfares are damaged by dedicated public transportation lanes. The city is plagued by constant emissions from hazardous industries."," reads the petition, which, at the time of publication, had been signed by 9,480 Chelyabinsk residents.

At the end of December, the Chelyabinsk region experienced a record amount of snowfall in recent years, for which utility services were unprepared.

On January 6, the regional office of the Investigative Committee initiated an investigation into the garbage dump in Chelyabinsk that occurred after the snowfall.

The situation with public transportation also worsened. People had to clear snow themselves and push buses stuck in snowdrifts.

The Chelyabinsk mayor's office even had to apologize to passengers for the operation of public transport.

Governor of the region Alexander Teksler He blamed Roshydromet for everything, as it failed to warn utility workers about the snowfall in advance.
