"Ben and Peter love each other. They're sodomites." The group "Radetel" demanded that Duolingo be blocked for "LGBT propaganda."

The Siberian human rights group "Radetel" filed a complaint with Roskomnadzor against a foreign language learning service on behalf of "concerned parents from Ufa." The parents allegedly complain that "Duolingo, a popular language learning app for schoolchildren,… uses blatant LGBT propaganda."

The group's appeal includes screenshots from the app. Radetel activists translated the phrase "They are gay" as "They are sodomites," and the phrase "lesbian bar" as "sodomite bar." These phrases, according to the letter's authors, "traumatize" children.

The complaint states that the free platform Duolingo was created in USARadetel demands that Duolingo's legal entity be held accountable and access to the app be blocked. The letter was signed by Radetel's director. Georgy Soldatov, he is also the coordinator of the Forty Sorokov movement, as well as a member of the World Russian People's Council Ivan Kvasnitsky.

The group "Radetel" was registered in November 2022 in Novosibirsk and has been active since then. The website states that the group complained about the TV presenter.
