Human rights activists from Dagestan are demanding compensation from police for pushing them down a flight of stairs during their arrest.

In June 2021, police officers broke into a shelter apartment at the Marem crisis center in Makhachkala. The center's employees were in the apartment. Svetlana Amirova was carried by three police officers and dropped twice. She hit the back of her head once and her lower back again. Later, the women were charged with disobeying police officers; a court later ruled that they did not resist.
Doctors found numerous bruises and contusions on the victims. A psychologist noted the women were in a grave emotional state, and one of them required a psychiatrist.
Human rights activists believe the police violated the women's right to privacy, illegally detained them, and unjustifiably used physical force. The case has already begun its review. Soviet District Court of Makhachkala, the hearing is scheduled for April 4. The judge Israfil Magomedov decided to involve the Ministry of Internal Affairs in the case as co-defendants The Republic Dagestan, as well as the Ministry of Finance of Russia.
