Logunov cooperated with the investigation but took no part in the search for his wife. He was arrested on suspicion of distributing pornography in August 2022, and his wife's remains were discovered a month later. The body was dressed in pajamas and wrapped in a plastic bag. An autopsy confirmed the remains belonged to Elena Logunova. The investigation determined that Logunov strangled his wife, then took the body to a garage and then out of town.
The court transferred the children into the custody of the Koshelevs.
