The defender of Shies, the activist Drevarh the Enlightened, died in Arkhangelsk.

Eco-activist Andrey Khristoforov, also known as Drevarh the Enlightened, died in the hospital due to worsening liver cirrhosis. He was 59 years old.

Khristoforov participated in protests against the construction of a landfill near the Shies railway station. In 2019, Drevarkh was accused of tasering a police officer who was filing a report against him for stopping a train with an emergency brake.

In September 2019, Drevarh, under a travel ban, fled to Ukraine. In August 2021, he returned and voluntarily surrendered to authorities. The environmental activist was given a suspended sentence of one year in prison.

For the past 20 years, Khristoforov has been involved in performance art: he rode around Arkhangelsk on a bicycle with angel wings and a flashing light on the cap, climbed a Christmas tree, and arrived at a polling station with bags of manure to "fertilize" the 2018 presidential election.

Drevarh held at least 23 passports: Posad Vselenovich Drevarh-Prosvetleny, Mikhail Vasilyevich Lomonosov, Vladimir Vladimirovich Putin, Dmitry Anatolyevich Medvedev, and Gérard Xavier-Marcelevich Depardieu. Under these identities, the activist regularly participated in local elections.
