In Ukhta, those who helped suppress the Hungarian uprising were congratulated on Victory Day. They were children at the start of the war.

Pensioners Oleg Dmitruk и Ivan Trubin pcongratulated the mayor of Ukhta Magomed Osmanov and his deputy Vitaly Zarubin.

"He [Dmitruk] was born on May 14, 1936, in Kursk. He was only five years old when the Great Patriotic War began, but those terrible years were forever imprinted on his childhood memory. As part of the Soviet military contingent, he participated in the suppression of the counterrevolutionary uprising in Hungary from October 1956 to July 1958.", the mayor’s post reads.

Dmitruk was congratulated from the street by a group of Ukhta artists and a parade of Young Army members who staged a "Parade at the House." Deputy Mayor Vitaly Zarubin congratulated Ivan Trubin, another participant in the suppression of the Hungarian uprising, on Victory Day. Trubin was barely seven years old at the start of the Great Patriotic War.

The Ukhta mayor's office also congratulated several other people who survived World War II, including a resident of the besieged city Leningrad Valentina Khmyz and a veteran of labor Grigory Bozhkov, who worked on a tractor during the war.
