Hundreds of toads die in the Lipovaya Gora area, moving to their breeding ground – Zhabye Lake.
"This is a sad post, and I hope that someday we will transform the road of death for our poor toads into a road of love and happiness. The migration route of gray toads to Toad Lake is crossed by a highway and a concrete fence belonging to Biomed. Instinct leads the toads to the lake, but the road and fence give them no chance. A group of activists arrived at the scene to rescue the remaining survivors, but not a single living pair was found. The activists brought journalists to the scene to use the media to inform the authorities of the need to ensure the toads' access to the pond.
In her comments, Bagley explained that there's a pipe running under the road that simply needs to be adapted for the toads' passage. However, Biomed is a federal, restricted-access facility, which "you don't know how to approach."
