A dam has burst in the Tyumen region. A village is being evacuated.

According to eyewitnesses, the village Big Karagay, which is located 300 km from Tyumen, flooded 10 minutes after the dam broke.

The water comes from the Irtysh River: for the fifth day now it has been rising by 20 cm per day.

The day before, the governor Alexander Moor warnedthat this particular settlement would be the first to experience the flood. He also emphasized that only dams would save the village from flooding.

Rescuers are currently evacuating people and animals from Bolshoy Karagay. Several other settlements are at risk of flooding.
