Before this appointment, the 26-year-old Nikolay Machikhin led regional branch of the "Young Guard of United Russia", wrote denunciations of opposition members and acted as a "witness" in their cases.

In particular, after one of these denunciations in November 2017, the court arrested the coordinator of Navalny's headquarters for seven days. Diana Rudakova. She called his appointment to the post of head of the department "a canonical picture of the United Russia tangle."

Of course, there is no youth policy in the Tambov region, – Rudakova said in a conversation with NeMoskva. – This post has always been filled by some crooks. It's a completely pointless structure, stuffed with all sorts of daughters and sons of the regional party elite.

Diana Rudakova doubts that Machikhin, who has taken on a leadership position, will be able to change anything in the department's work.

This man is extremely loyal to the current government and is not capable of any feats, she is convinced. Putin has been cultivating this complete and unprincipled breed for over 20 years.

At the same time, Rudakova believes that the main problems facing young people in the region remain unresolved: it's difficult to find decent work with adequate wages or to buy affordable housing with a mortgage.
