A Cossack and a miner left Rostov's Donetsk: the sculpture was dismantled.

"On the afternoon of July 2, equipment arrived at the monument and carefully removed the Cossack and his horse, then the miner, using a crane. All the sculptures were loaded into the back of a truck. According to the workers involved in the dismantling, the monument will be sent to professional out-of-town sculptors for reconstruction. Once completed, the Cossack and the miner will be returned to their original location. Although, it's quite possible they'll simply take this 'masterpiece' away from public view."- wrote Telegram channel "Donetsk Today 24/7".  

City Administration Donetsk in your telegram channel gave an explanation about the “state of the figures of the horse, the Cossack and the miner” (in that order).

According to city administration officials, the aforementioned figures "are not monuments and are not on the municipal books." They were installed by a "citizens' initiative group" with permission from local authorities. These same citizens "maintained the sculptures at their own expense," but "earlier this year, vandals struck the horse and Cossack figures with unidentified objects."

The local Cossack community, community activists, and the mayor Alexander Klimenko They decided to give the figures a cosmetic overhaul, but "upon completion, it became clear that restoring them to their original condition was not feasible." Ultimately, they decided to remove everything, out of harm's way, and raise money for a new sculpture.

The administration hasn't specified the reasons for returning the monstrosities resulting from the "cosmetic renovation" to their original locations. Meanwhile, local residents on social media awarded the would-be restorers first place in the "So It'll Do!" category.
