Alexey Tsvetkov, "Quinn Idylls and Other Things," Tel Aviv: Babel Books, 2024
This is also a reprint, the latest edition, prepared with the personal participation of the remarkable poet Alexei Tsvetkov. Under the updated cover is the lyric cycle "Queens Idylls," poems from recent years, and a fragment of autobiographical prose. Tsvetkov weaves together mundane fragments of reality, overheard conversations, and random impressions into complex and vivid statements that confront the reader with what true poetry should: questions of life, death, and the reflection of the surrounding world in language. The book is also interesting for its origins: it is a project of the independent publishing house "Babel," which unites Russian-speaking readers from many countries.
"One day you'll wake up confused // who you are and how you ended up here // the main thing is not to get completely confused // not to spread like liquid gel across the surface."
