At the Starozhilovsky stud farm near Ryazan, a historic building burned for the third time.
The historic red brick building of the former "office" caught fire last night, and firefighters are still spraying water on it. The building is a federal cultural heritage site.
The U-shaped building (locals call it "the bracket") was built approximately 130 years ago by order of an entrepreneur, philanthropist, and railway builder. Local residents do not consider the fire that occurred yesterday to be sudden.
— Nothing has changed since 2020: no one needs the buildings. The slate and roof boards have burned out. Back then, the left side of the "bracket" was burning, now it's the right. Security guards from the AUIPIK [Agency for the Management and Use of Historical and Cultural Monuments of the Ministry of Culture of Russia] they walk, but they don’t need anything, — a local resident told NM. — We are confident that the building itself could not have caught fire.
Deputy Chairman of the Ryazan branch of the All-Russian Society for the Protection of Historical and Cultural Monuments Igor Kochetkov believes that a criminal case should be opened under the article "negligence":

According to him, the same fate awaits a neighboring building (also a designated historical heritage site), which local authorities are currently resettling. The All-Russian Society for the Protection of Historical and Cultural Monuments (VOOPIiK) will contact the Prosecutor General's Office with a description of the situation, with the aim of initiating a criminal investigation.
Local residents report that the horse population is not in any danger.
