The first women's monument may appear in Khabarovsk.

В Khabarovsk launched a campaign to install the city's first women's monument. Project #MONUMENT TO A FELLOW COUNTRYMAN invites you to vote for one of ten outstanding women who have worked in the city.

As the project's founder told NeMoskva Daria UlanovaIt appeared six years ago and began as a symbolic plywood monument. The project then evolved into a lecture series, original city walks featuring Khabarovsk women, and a series of research projects. The plywood woman will be used in other events in the future; it is currently undergoing renovation. 

There's no preliminary location yet for a possible monument. According to Daria, the voting results will demonstrate the importance of the monument to the public and will provide an opportunity to launch a corresponding public initiative. vote will last until September 7, but may be extended. 

The heroines were chosen based on several criteria: each had to have a photo, and they had to have lived and worked in Khabarovsk for a significant period of time. Otherwise, they were completely different.

Among the outstanding women is an infectious disease specialist Leah Vereta, who created an immunoglobulin against tick-borne encephalitis. She currently leads the poll, with 37,5% of votes cast. The initiators singled out the first and only female riverboat captain in the Far East. Zinaida Savchenko, the founder of the first maternity hospital in Khabarovsk Krai, a gynecologist Nina Skvortsova, writer, translator, researcher of Udege culture Yulia ShestakovaA total of ten outstanding women were chosen for voting.
