"Last Address" signs have been restored in St. Petersburg.

Today, activists installed two new and restored 34 previously removed "Last Address" signs at 61 Lesnoy Prospekt (the so-called House of Specialists).

Residents of the house came to the opening, сообщает "Paper." Plaques dedicated to those repressed began disappearing in 2023 after a complaint was filed on the "My Saint Petersburg" portal. However, residents successfully secured their restoration: two-thirds of apartment owners voted in favor at a meeting.

"Almost immediately after [its removal], a printed list, which had been on this wall, appeared here, along with flowers. After a while, cardboard duplicates appeared here. They hung there throughout 2024.", - said an employee of "The Last Address" at the opening Marina Demidenko.

The House of Specialists is a multi-apartment residential complex built in the 1930s "for highly qualified specialists." Many of them were victims of the repressions.

Two new signs installed today devoted to To Eduard Schultz и To Yakov Tsypkin, executed in the 1930s on charges of "espionage" and "counterrevolutionary subversive activities." Much later, both were posthumously rehabilitated. Project The Last Address — is a public initiative whose goal is to perpetuate the memory of those who became victims of political repression during the Soviet era.
