The only one on Earth. Musician Igor Rasteryaev defended one of Europe's cleanest rivers, the Volgograd Medveditsa.
In the village of Staroselye An asphalt plant is planned for construction in the Mikhailovsky District. Local residents are concerned that the facility will pollute the Medveditsa River, one of the cleanest rivers in Europe, along with the Khopro River. Singer Igor Rasteryaev also asked officials to find another location for the asphalt plant.
Rasteryaev noted that he rarely comments on anything, as blogging isn't his thing. But in this case, his fellow countrymen asked him to.
"I know nothing about ecology, nor about asphalt production, but I have something to say. Our Medveditsa River is also unique in that it's the only river on planet Earth where a population of the cyprinid fish [a fish from the carp family, listed in the Russian and International Red Books] remains." said singer.
If the river becomes polluted, our planet will lose this species of fish, and our descendants, according to Rasteryaev, will not forgive us for this.
Local residents note that pollution is inevitable: the site chosen for construction is on a slope where meltwater will flow into the river. Meanwhile, Medveditsa is the only source of drinking water for residents of Staroselye.
"Any enterprise, any factory, can, with a show of will, be moved to another location where it won't threaten our river. I have nothing more to add. Glory to the Medveditsa cutout, the Medveditsa must be clean!"“— the singer finished his address.
