The "Entrance to the Amber Room" in Kaliningrad has finally been demolished.
Historical Villa "Edith", which served as the prototype for the story of the same name by the Soviet writer Mark Barinov, razed to the ground.

The villa was built in the early 20th century and became a communal apartment in the post-war years. In 2015, the building was declared unsafe. The last residents were relocated last year. The empty building quickly looted and defeated.
Some Kaliningrad residents advocated preserving the villa and creating a museum there, but in November, authorities finally condemned the building.
"Around the remains of the building lie well-preserved bricks in places, and roof tiles that weren't broken were carefully stacked next to beams with protruding nails. Some trees were uprooted. Traces of a fire were discovered."- have described Demolition site on the RuGrad website.
The "entrance" to the mysterious Kaliningrad dungeons no longer exists.
January 5th marked the 100th anniversary of the birth of Mark Barinov, whose novella was a favorite read among Soviet citizens. Kaliningrad authorities chose a rather original way to celebrate the anniversary.
