City Court Berezovsky в Sverdlovsk area declared illegal election head of the city Julia Maslakova, It's My City reports. The woman filed the lawsuit herself, but failed to appear at the hearing. 

Maslakova's representative Dmitriy Korotash He stated that the city council members should have accepted her decision to withdraw from the vote, but did not do so and violated the official's right to refuse to participate in the vote. 

On January 30, during the Berezovsky mayoral election, 17 out of 23 deputies voted for Yulia Maslakova as the new mayor. At the time, she was working as the head of the city's investment development department, but, more notably, her husband was the incumbent mayor's driver. Eugene PistsovaThe latter received 6 votes, and other candidates were not allowed to vote. 

Maslakova tried to refuse her new position all this time, but was ultimately only able to do so through the courts.
