The Barguzinsky Nature Reserve invites you to admire the sable.

Sable attached — and not just any kind, but also from Barguzin. A reserve employee filmed it. Lubsan Chagdurov on the territory of the Davsha field base.

The Barguzin sable differs from its relatives in its smaller size, dark color, and thick, high fur. This last feature has served it poorly: a Google search for "Barguzin sable" returns some nonsense about fur coats. 

Normal people don't wear fur, but simply admire it on live sables. Incidentally, photographing this timid animal up close is a stroke of luck: it usually doesn't let you get close.  

The sable is about the size of a cat. Its body is slender and flexible, with a short, bushy tail. It measures approximately 35-50 cm in length and weighs 1-1,5 kg. It has a keen sense of hearing and smell, but poor eyesight. Its paws have a remarkable ability to resist sinking into snow thanks to the dense, dense fur. Sables are excellent tree climbers and easily scramble over rocky outcrops. They move by leaping up to 70 cm.- told in the reserve.
