"I won't cry": A Khabarovsk journalist fined for "fakes" about Bucha is set to be expelled from the Union of Journalists.

In February 2025, journalist Sergei Mingazov sentenced A fine of 700 rubles was imposed on three reposts about Bucha: the court deemed them "fakes." A month later, the Union of Journalists of Russia (UJR) sent a request to the local branch of the union to expel Mingazov for “actions contrary to the charter.” 

Mingazov told NeMoskva that his priority now is to comply with the court's sentence and pay the fine. He doesn't know when the local union will consider his expulsion, but he's confident it will approve. 

"I won't cry over my expulsion. As for the decision of the federal RUJ secretariat, I don't care, but the local organization's board will have to implement it. There's a vertical power structure there and all that. I think everything will be done without any fuss. I didn't ask to be on the board of the Khabarovsk regional RUJ; my colleagues nominated me. So they consider my position authoritative."

As for the fine, with the help of colleagues, readers, family, and relatives, almost the entire amount has already been raised. Mingazov has no plans to quit his profession.

"I'll switch to working with Khabarovsk small media; Telegram publishers, for example, are no less interesting than journalists on the regional budget," he noted.
