"They're not afraid of people at all." Residents of Russian cities are complaining about hordes of rats.
In the last two days alone, residents have complained about rodents occupying the courtyards of residential buildings and their "garbage dumps" Syktyvkar, Chelyabinsk и Stavropol.
"A pack of rats has taken over the dump. They're completely unafraid of people. They're gnawing at cars. We're afraid to go near them anymore." told Residents of an apartment building at 111/1 Morozov Street in Syktyvkar.
In Chelyabinsk, residents of the elite Lesoparkovy residential complex complained of a rat infestation: the rats had taken over the entire courtyard. And in Stavropol, rodents have proliferated in the Romantik gardening community, settling in an unauthorized dump.
Rats have lived alongside humans for hundreds of years; warmth and food are essential for their successful reproduction. In the late 2000s, experts noted that the rat population in Russia was rapidly growing, and they were losing their fear of stray cats and even humans.
