It has become easier to write letters to political prisoners.
The OVD-Info project has updated its online service for sending letters. "Vestochka"Now you can select specific recipients by name, interests, or profession. And if you're unsure who to write to, use the "Waiting for Messages" button to send a message to someone you write to less often.
OVD-Info launched "Vestochka" in August 2024, amid the largest political prisoner exchange since the Cold War. Since then, over 13 letters have reached their recipients!
With Vestochka, you can send a letter anonymously and free of charge from anywhere in the world and in any language—no Russian card, phone number, or registration with official services required.
"We know for sure that letters to those persecuted politically are greatly needed," writes the OVD-Info team. "And we know you have something to say. Even a short letter offers support, warmth, and a reminder that you are not alone. It takes a little time, but it can change someone's day."
