Each district will develop its own travel approval process, the regional government press service explained. The restrictions do not apply to regional and federal roads, but according to the decree, patrols will be posted near populated areas.

The day before, the Transbaikal governor Alexander Osipov signed a decree on the rules for the movement of people around the region during a state of heightened alert due to wildfires.

"Restrict travel by citizens and vehicles from populated areas of the Zabaikalsky Krai to natural and natural-anthropogenic sites," the resolution states. "Leaving a populated area for the purpose of visiting another populated area is permitted with the approval of the head of the municipality."
