The Kremlin may be demolished as an unauthorized structure.
In St. Petersburg They decided to dismantle the mosaic sculpture in the shape of the Spasskaya Tower of the Moscow Kremlin. Until the 2000s, a fountain functioned inside it, and just a few years ago, a clock kept accurate time.
The Zvezdnoye municipal district administration demanded its dismantling, as the mosaic figure is located on municipal land without legal grounds.
"I called the administration, and they said the 'Kremlin' has no owner. What kind of owner could there be if it's from the Soviet Union? They say it's an unauthorized building."- рассказал local Igor Bokarev.
Sculptures and other landmarks from the Soviet era are rarely preserved. They are deteriorating over time and are torn down as unnecessary in favor of new construction. Residents often require restoration elements of improvement from the Soviet years - municipalities respond: there are no funds.
According to local residents, the fountain's jets used to flow from beneath the tower, with pipes installed between its supports. After the collapse of the USSR, it was still under renovation, and in the early 2000s, it operated for about three years. However, it then stopped flowing, and the basin was filled in.
The inspection report will be drawn up on May 26, after which the Moskovsky District administration will make a decision on its dismantling.
In the comments, residents of St. Petersburg have been named such a decision was "sabotage", but they laughed at the fact of the demolition of the "Kremlin":
