"Leg and Birch." An exhibition of primitivism-inspired works as a "living emotion."
Shovels with light bulbs, a dinosaur, and a birch tree trunk with the inscription "Hug Me" are among the exhibits at the "Leg and Birch" exhibition, which opened at the Voronezh House of Architects.
It presents works in the genre of primitive art.
"The artists set a goal to show inner truth through simplicity of form and color... That is, they invited the viewer to look at the painting not as something complex, but as a living emotion," says in the exhibition description.
Primitivism - direction An art movement that emerged in the late 19th and early 20th centuries. Its followers were inspired by prehistoric, medieval, and folk art, as well as children's drawings. Famous artists who worked in this genre include Henri Rousseau, Niko Pirosmani, and Grandma Moses. At certain periods, primitivism was also embraced by Paul Gauguin, Pablo Picasso, and Amedeo Modigliani.
The exhibition in Voronezh will run until May 25.
Incidentally, in a survey conducted by the "Bloknot. Voronezh" channel, more than half of subscribers indicated that they disliked this type of art.
