Volgograd murderer and "hero of the SVO" Arsen Melkonyan is released.

V1.ru edition сообщаетthat Melkonyan should be released by the end of the week.

It is unclear how this could happen: in March 2024, Melkonyan got Three years and two months in a penal colony for threatening a judge. However, a law enforcement source confirmed to the publication that Melkonyan is preparing for release, not under an amnesty or because of a change in his sentence, but because "his sentence, as they say, has expired."

In the fall of 2020, after an argument in a parent chat room at a Volgograd school, Arsen Melkonyan decided to continue "showdown" offline: he attacked the father of one of the girls Roman Grebenyuk several blows to the head, after which he ended up in intensive care, and died a week later. 

The court sentenced Arsen Melkonyan to 11 years in a maximum security penal colony, but a few months later he was discovered to be part of the Wagner PMC, and in April 2023 came back home with a certificate of pardon. 

However, Melkonyan soon found himself behind bars again—this time for threatening a judge. After the verdict, he told reporters he intended to appeal the verdict and return to the war in Ukraine. But this time, he never made it to the front.
