The State Duma has established a fine of up to half a million rubles for selling energy drinks to children.

Deputies adopted amendments to the Russian Federation Code of Administrative Offenses, establishing liability for the sale of non-alcoholic energy drinks to minors. 

Fines will be up to 50 rubles for individuals, up to 200 rubles for officials, and up to 500 rubles for legal entities.

"The harm to children's health from energy drinks is obvious: the risk of early development of cardiovascular disease, diabetes, and other complications. There are cases of children being hospitalized in a pre-stroke state after drinking such drinks," speaker Vyacheslav Volodin wrote on his Telegram channel.

The Duma previously passed a law banning the sale of energy drinks to minors; it came into effect on March 1.
