In Rostov-on-Don, the walls of a federal monument were painted over for the filming of a movie about Donbas. Apparently, they're promising to restore it to its original state (but that's not certain).
В Rostov They're filming a movie about the events in Donbas. The location is a 19th-century warehouse complex. Paramonovsky warehouses.
The Rostov Telegram channel "Tyutina" published a video from the filming location, which shows that the walls of the Paramonov warehouses are partially painted black.
"Look, visiting filmmakers, for some unknown reason, have painted a federal architectural landmark—the Paramonov Warehouses—a burnt color for their own purposes. We'd really like to hear the opinion of the Cultural Heritage Protection Committee on this. Or does the fact that it's a film about Donbas give them the opportunity to do whatever they want with anything?" пишет Tyutina.
The news spread across Rostov public groups and sparked outrage. Soon, the Donnews publication, citing a local tour guide's Telegram channel, Marina Natalyan reportedthat “everything will be fine with the Paramonov warehouses” because they were painted over not with paint, but with soot. "The film crew has all the permits for this work, and after completion, they will return the Paramonov warehouses to their original appearance.", Donnews writes. However, now on Marina Natalyan's channel There is no such post.
Commentators on the Tyutina channel also write that the walls are likely painted with soot, but its fine particles "eat into the surface so that it can't be washed off." They also ask rhetorically why a federal monument fell into such a state that it proved the most suitable location for filming the bombed-out Mariupol, where the film is set.
The Paramonov warehouses were built in the second half of the 19th century. They were named after one of the owners, a famous grain industrialist. Elpidifora ParamonovaTheir unique feature is the use of springs gushing from the slope of the Don River bank to maintain a constant low temperature. The Paramonov warehouses were a cult site for Rostov residents for many years, but despite their status as a federal architectural monument, due to the inaction of city authorities, they fell into ruin.
