Kamchatka's only inclusive coffee shop needs renovations
An inclusive coffee shop, "Africa," has been operating in Kamchatka for several years. It trains people with disabilities to become baristas: over 60 people have already completed the training. And there's still a waiting list.
“We have no problems with recruitment: there are already 15 people on the waiting list for training,” told "Regional aspect" in a coffee shop.
The plan is to open on August 1st, but there is a lack of funds. The coffee shop is сбор on Planeta.ru, but so far they've raised 24,300 rubles of the 200,000 ruble goal. The opening was previously scheduled for May. So the dates are uncertain: everything will depend on the fundraising.
Funds are also needed for cups, coffee, and space rental. The coffee shop is managed by the Luka and Marfa Alekseev Kamchatka Institute of Health. Since 2021, the organization has been training people with disabilities: in addition to baristas, there's a project to teach massage to the blind. But the challenge remains: finding the money to pay the teachers.
