In Yekaterinburg, eco-urbanists demanded that the mayor's office amend the city's landscaping regulations, as neighborhoods are currently being built without parks.

To the chapter Yekaterinburg Alexey Orlov requested social organization "Civilians" - eco-urbanists The Urals. They demand that city regulations be declared invalid, that new ones be created, and that district parks be added to existing plans for new microdistricts. 

Current city regulations contradict federal and regional ones and are vaguely worded, explains Mirnye Zhitelste. Because of this, developers and authorities don't bother creating green spaces in mass development projects. For example, in one of the microdistricts designed for 36 thousands residents, it is planned to allocate only 0,62 hectares for so-called "public green areas." However, according to regional regulations, it is necessary 11 hectares, and according to federal ones - 21 hectare. 

The same situation is observed in other high-density development areas. Furthermore, the Yekaterinburg administration is allowing development in existing parks. The city is losing green space, which is worrying residents and experts. 

If no changes follow, the "Peaceful Residents" will go to court. 

"For us, the Yekaterinburg of the future is a city where nature lives in harmony with culture. We are working to bring this ideal closer.""," the association's website says.
