Workers at a wagon repair depot near Chelyabinsk have not received their wages for five months.

According to the publication “Novy Den”, work at the enterprise in the city Verkhniy Ufaley stopped completely, and about 100 employees have been on indefinite leave since mid-March.

People say the railcar repair depot's problems began a year and a half ago: management attempted to sell the buildings, equipment, and grounds for 541 million rubles. Since then, the company has stopped paying for spare parts needed for railcar repairs.

Employees who went on indefinite leave were promised two-thirds of their salaries, but for five months they haven't received a single penny.

People have already filed complaints with the prosecutor's office and the Investigative Committee, but they're reluctant to help, advising them to file civil lawsuits. But even this, according to employees, is impossible: filing a lawsuit requires a certificate stating the total amount owed, which can only be issued by the company's accounting department (which is out of business).

Telegram channel "Chelyabinsk of the Future" pays attention, that a month before its closure, the wagon repair depot positioned itself as a “promising place of employment, including for participants in the war in Ukraine.”
Previously, the company serviced up to 400 railcars per month, collaborating with Russian Railways, among others. The crisis was apparently caused by a significant decline in freight traffic, as reported by NeMoskva. told Previously: Three years into the war with Ukraine, Russia's rail network has plunged into chaos, facing massive traffic jams and gridlock, and the average speed of freight trains has dropped to 40,6 km/h—the last time such a low speed was recorded was in 1960.
