A forensic expert took a part-time job as a janitor to grow a garden in the courtyard of an apartment building. 

A resident of Arkhangelsk Elina Kolyadko She transformed the surrounding area into a blooming garden. To do this, she got a job as a janitor in the homeowners' association.

Her salary isn't much—10 rubles—but the Arkhangelsk resident spends part of it on improving her "oasis" around her home. At first, the plants died, being torn out by vandals, but eventually, she got it right.

"I expected this, so I wasn't too upset. I mean, planting in the evening and seeing holes in the morning wasn't anything new to me. I still wanted to achieve some stability, so people would steal everything they wanted. And then what's left is what doesn't interest them."- shared Elina. 

Eight years ago, when the new tenants moved into the house, the yard was littered with cigarette butts and bottles, and no one paid any attention. Now the yard is adorned with shrubs, cherry and apple trees, and blooming petunias and Solovetsky roses, all in the harsh northern climate.

The self-taught gardener says that working as a street sweeper isn't a burden: her husband and daughter help her. And if she has to pick up a shovel or broom herself, it's only good for her health. Kolyadko knows what she's talking about, after all, her main job is in a forensic medical examination bureau.
