Residents of two villages in the Arkhangelsk region are asking for a bridge to be built, as they live without transportation for three months a year.

In the villages of Rochegda and Selmenga, residents recorded Video messages: They demand a bridge be built across the Northern Dvina River. They addressed their demands to the head of the region, Alexander Tsybulsky, the president, and the head of the Investigative Committee.

"There's no year-round transportation. During the muddy season, we're on an island for three months a year, unable to get in or out. We've been denied access to a hovercraft, and the district authorities aren't enforcing orders for free year-round transportation across the Northern Dvina River," residents say in the video.

In Russia more 4000 emergency bridges. For small towns, this is the only connection with regional centers: there are no railways, let alone airports.

Residents of Rochegda say they pay for officials' inaction with their safety and health: they have to wait four hours or more for an ambulance on poor roads. Meanwhile, in Selmenga, the treatment room has been removed, while in Rochegda, only a paramedic remains.

Similar infrastructure problems are observed in other regions of Russia. In Lermontovo, residents of Kuban remained Without a bridge, the emergency structure collapsed, and they can't build a new one. In the Kirov region, they can't to repair bridge over the Svyatitsa River.
