Chelyabinsk authorities close feminist exhibition because of portrait of Ekaterina Shulman

An exhibition of portraits of great women was organized at the local library by the feminist community "A Woman Can Do It!" reported "The Voice." The institution's management was "pressured from above because of a denunciation"—they didn't like the fact that one of the portraits depicted a foreign agent. The exhibition was part of the September Women's History Week festival.

This case fits into the overall context of increasing repression against cultural and educational initiatives in Russia. For example, in Yaroslavl closed art space "Teplo", and in mid-August the Syktyvkar "Revolt Center" closed after its creator started criminal case of treason.
