"They're planning to commit the crime in October." Tambov residents protested the trolleybus's destruction.

A group of activists Tambov turned to Alexander Bastrykin with a request to investigate the regional Investigative Committee, as well as the city authorities, for corruption. All because of the closure of the last trolleybus route.

The last trolleybuses will come on line October 31, five days before the 70th anniversary of this mode of transport in Tambov. Residents had previously complained to Bastrykin, who ordered an investigation, but it was to no avail. 

"The mayor of the city Maxim Kosenkov announced plans to commit another official crime by completely shutting down trolleybus service. The officials are preparing to commit the crime in October. Such public statements were only possible due to the complete inaction of the Investigative Committee of the Russian Federation for the Tambov Region." - with these words the residents again requested to Bastrykin in a video message. 

Trolleybuses are an environmentally friendly form of transport that requires no fuel. City authorities often respond by saying they don't have the funds to purchase new trolleybuses. 

It was previously reported that Tambov hadn't purchased trolleybuses since the 1990s: before perestroika, the fleet consisted of 185 vehicles; by 2000, there were fewer than 40 trolleybuses; by that year, the overhead contact network had practically collapsed.
