We've reached the hunters: the fees for hunting animals will increase several times over. 

From January 2026, fees for hunters will increase. According to According to Vedomosti, some rates will increase more than fivefold. The government commission on legislative activity has already approved these changes. 

According to hunter Evgeny Shelyapin, host of the channel "Hunting Destiny," the increased fees will shorten the permit's validity period. 

"Let's do the math. I used to buy a permit to hunt wild boar in public hunting grounds for 450 rubles. And I could sight in my rifle and stay in the grounds for nine months without anyone asking why I was wandering around with a gun. Now the permit will be valid for 30 days. The fee has increased to 2340 rubles. So now I'll pay 21,000 rubles for nine months, instead of 450! That's a 46-fold increase!" says Evgeny Shelyapin on video. 

The rate increase was attributed to inflation. However, it officially stood at only 8,46% in 2025. Shelyapin has no doubt the new rates will be adopted. In a conversation with NeMoskva, he explained that the community has been discussing this decision for a long time. 

"The goal was to resolve everything by January 1, 2026. I think they'll pass it anyway. The only question is which price categories will remain. But everyone is expecting a price increase," the hunter says. 

Evgeny Shelyapin hopes that the money collected from hunters will ultimately go toward forest restoration. "And we'll be left with hares, deer, wild boar, and elk," he added. 

In recent months, Russian authorities have been exploring various ways to replenish the budget: they plan to raise VAT and the recycling fee on imported cars. The budget even adopted plan on fines they want to collect from Russians. These increases are explained, among other things, by a lack of funds for the war.
