"Such measures have nothing to do with justice or order": Garbage vocalist Shirley Manson wrote a letter in support of activist Mikhail Krieger.

In a letter Manson contacted the head of correctional colony No. 5 Naryshkino to Maxim Prilepsky a call not to isolate Krieger from other prisoners and allow him to visit his daughter. 

“Krieger has been repeatedly placed in solitary confinement, and now he is on a hunger strike - this is a desperate act of a man deprived of basic human communication and humane treatment, — writes Shirley Manson. — Such measures, I am convinced, have nothing to do with either justice or order.”

Scottish singer and actress Shirley Manson, lead singer of the rock band Garbage, is known for her contralto vocals. Garbage is one of the most successful rock bands of the 1990s, selling over 17 million albums worldwide.

Mikhail Kriger is a regular participant in opposition rallies and pickets in Moscow. He has been in prison since November 2022. In the fall of 2023, a court sentenced him to seven years in prison on charges of "justifying terrorism" and "inciting hatred."
