A "wall of death" for birds may appear on the Curonian Spit.

"They've got nothing but glass there. 21-23 meters—a solid wall of glass. This is no joke. It will literally be a wall of death for birds. We can build it now, but the consequences will be permanent. At the same time, the developer calls The project is "ecologically friendly" and promises special "protective glass" that birds will supposedly fly around, and protective nets.

The Expert Council for Nature Conservation has sent a second appeal to the Prosecutor General's Office of Russia to protect birds migrating along the Curonian Spit. UNESCO has also expressed interest in the project, as the spit is a World Heritage Site.
