Nearly 10 residents of Karelian villages were left without access to food.

"Why have residents—mostly pensioners, the disabled, those who couldn't and didn't want to leave their homeland—become unwanted in their own country? What's the Ministry of Health's position on this? Take immediate action; a solution can be found within 24 hours. There's an entrepreneur ready to take on our small village; he's waiting for a call and help. We don't need formal replies; we need concrete, immediate action. Don't ruin my homeland and ours.", the woman wrote.

Head of the Ministry of Industry and Trade of Karelia Svetlana Astakhova She replied that to solve the problem, at the end of September the administration purchased two 19-seat buses so that people could travel to Medvezhyegorsk. 

However, Maya noted that nothing has changed since September, and people still can't buy groceries. And the distance from some villages to Medvezhyegorsk is over 100 kilometers. So, even if the bus service were restored, people would have to travel over 200 kilometers to get groceries.

According to the local publication "Daily Karelia," 374 towns and villages in the republic lack a single store. A total of 9,405 people live without a single store in their communities.
