"You don't need to invite him to the table twice": a voracious snipe is being rescued on Sakhalin.
The Green Sakhalin Wildlife Foundation began nursing a young snipe back to health. The bird arrived with a broken wing. But during its care, another problem emerged: an insatiable appetite.
"You don't need to invite them to the table twice. But the feeding methods and the amount of food are a real disaster. The snipe eats a lot. A lot," Wrote employees of the fund.
The snipe feeds in a complex manner: it dips its beak into the ground, "listens," and fishes worms out of the soil. Workers from the Teplichny state farm helped with the worm harvesting this winter. They bring the snipe several bags of live earthworms every week from Yuzhno-Sakhalinsk to Kholmsk. The bird's rescuers simply had to bury them back to provide the snipe with a meal.
