"There Was a Road Here." A Krasnoyarsk Village Found in a Snow Blockade

Village Plakhino, Abansky districtIt seemed cut off from civilization: the roads were snowed in, leaving only impassable footpaths. A video from the scene was published by the TVK Telegram channel.

According to local residents, the roads here haven't been cleared since December 20th. The snow on the streets is now one meter deep, making it impossible for cars or heavy equipment to access them.

"Now there are only paths, swept away by snowstorms. People used these paths today to buy bread. One can only imagine how they got out here. Children can't get to their parents in case of an emergency. Neither ambulances nor fire trucks can get through."- told residents of the village.

People also sent a photo of a social worker making her way to her client, almost waist-deep in snow. The journey isn't easy for her.

"The social worker can barely walk, her feet completely covered in snow, the man walks through tears."“, the villager explained.

Residents of Plakhino are no strangers to isolation. During the spring and fall seasons, rains wash out the road so much that schoolchildren are forced to study remotely. And in 2022, the road stuck A film crew from a local TV channel took 10 hours to cover the 20-kilometer journey.

There are plenty of settlements in Russia that are cut off from civilization at one time or another of the year. Such villages are found in Kuban (Moldovanka), in the Irkutsk region, in the Arkhangelsk region, in KamchatkaThe state cannot build major roads, establish ferries, or establish helicopter service: it lacks the funds.
