Founder of the House of Rescued Animals Olga Zotkina I took him to the veterinary clinic, where the beaver had an X-ray and his wounds were treated. He will need a long rehabilitation period.
"Our beaver weighs 12,5 kg. He's two years old. At two years old, young beavers leave their families and begin their independent adult life, settling in territory unoccupied by other beavers. Our beaver most likely wandered into the park area due to a flooded river, choosing a less-than-ideal place to live."- said Olga, She shares the animal's story on her VKontakte page.
Olga consulted with Moscow veterinarians and specialists from the Voronezh nature reserve about the beaver's condition. It turned out that the beaver's release into the wild was unlikely, even after treatment: the adult beaver would not be accepted back into its family, and it was unknown whether it would be able to find its own habitat.
The little beaver refused food for 24 hours, despite being offered a varied menu. But after being placed in a small pool at the Animal House, he began eating young twigs. This is already a big step on the road to recovery.
