Altai activist Aruna Arna was sentenced to five years in a general regime penal colony.

Novosibirsk District Military Court recognized Arunu Arnu guilty of "justifying terrorism." The prosecutor had previously requested a six-year prison sentence for her.

Last year, the mother of many children and activist became one of the leaders of protests against the liquidation of village councils in the region. The largest rally in Gorno-Altaisk, according to various estimates, gathered from 1 to 4 thousand people.

In August, Aruna Arna was added to the list of “terrorists and extremists,” and a month later, detained for publishing videos that allegedly contained calls for terrorist attacks.

On the day of the verdict, outside the courthouse passed a solo picket in defense of the activist.
