Three villages near Krasnodar have been evacuated after the Kuban River rose above its dam.
The Kuban River overflowed its dam near Krasnodar, prompting evacuations in three communities. The flooded area includes the village of Gvardeyskoye, the village of Urma, and the gardening community "Yodnik," home to a total of 180 people.

The Kuban River overflowed the dam near the village of Zapadny, 70 km from Krasnodar. The village of Gvardeyskoye, the village of Urma, and the gardening community "Yodnik" were also affected.

Why did the water rise?
Water levels in Krasnodar's rivers rose sharply last weekend after heavy rainfall. This included flooding the embankment in Krasnodar itself, and even washing out a road on one street.
