"All the city talks about is raids. Local media is silent": Panic has set in among Penza residents

🔸 Several subscribers at onceNotMoscow", living in Penza, confirmed reports of mass raids taking place with the participation of military registration and enlistment office employees.

🔸 One of the subscribers said that he personally saw traffic police cars and several minibuses parked today near the Sovremennik cinema (this is in the city center, 100 meters from the city hall).

— There were traffic cops, people in balaclavas, and military registration and enlistment office employees, the subscriber clarifies. "They were checking for military registration and looking for draftees who had run away. The questions were primarily directed at those who had received a summons at some point but never showed up at the military registration and enlistment office. I don't know whether they were detained or not. I personally didn't witness any detentions."

🔸 Another NeMoskva subscriber confirmed that a raid took place at the Sovremennik cinema today.

"They stopped everyone. What's in the photos and videos is true," he spoke about the posts, published in the Telegram channel "Talk about cotton wool".

🔸 Judging by the reports published in “Conversations about Vatny,” the raids took place in different areas of Penza, as well as in several regional centers - Kamenka и Kuznetsk. The same information confirms The human rights project "Go to the Forest": its sources report that men are being detained on the streets, forced into cars, and taken away to sign contracts. This includes stopping city buses and checking passengers.

🔸 It is also reported that in one of the residential areas (Sputnik), police are going door to door.

🔸 According to a NeMoskva source, panic is spreading across the city: residents are warning each other by phone, instant messaging, and through private messages on social media.

"All the city talks about is the raids. The local media is silent. Everyone's calling each other, warning them not to let the men go outside. I saw a cashier at a shopping mall yell at some guy who works there to stay inside and not go outside to smoke because they [from the military recruitment office] are watching." I don't know how true that is. But panic has set in.

🔸 Another NeMoskva subscriber writes: "The whole office was on their feet, the boys' parents called to warn them."

🔸 There are indeed no posts about the raids on Penza's popular Telegram channels. In Penzainform, the most commented-on publication in the region, residents write about the raids under a post about the theft of four hydrangeas from a city flowerbed.

"Well, clearly nothing more important than the theft of hydrangeas is happening today," they are being ironic people.

"They're taking those who are on the list, and those who didn't go to the military registration and enlistment office, even though they should have," one of the readers clarifies.

🔸 As of 22 p.m., regional authorities are also silent and haven't even attempted to refute anything. The governor's latest post on Telegram out at 16.50 and is dedicated to cowsheds.

🔸 A little earlier, at 4:30 p.m., on the Penza mayor's page Oleg Denisov one of the users on the social network VKontakte asked Question: "Why are they stopping cars and asking about military registration? Where are the comments on the video from Kamenka where people are being pushed into a car by men in military uniform?" More than five hours have passed, but the authorities have still not responded.

🔸 As a source told NeMoskva, rumors about a "man hunt" actually began spreading throughout the region back in the spring.

"I've heard all sorts of stories about cops catching drunks, taking them to the station, and forcing them to sign a contract. I've heard of taxi drivers taking drunks to the station and turning them in for money. I've heard of people being brought to military registration and enlistment offices in their slippers, having their phones confiscated, and never coming back. I'd considered the possibility, but I never fully believed it. Today, I believe it."

🔸 Also, one of the subscribers of “NeMoskva” reminds that at the end of April the governor Oleg Melnichenko drove to report to Putin.

"I don't know how true it is, but here in Penza they say he got a rap for failing to meet the volunteer quota for the front. And they gave him a target he had to meet. Maybe he's stepped up his game?"

🔸 Based on the results of a May study by the reputation measurement service Pravdaserm and the Expert analytics center, Melnichenko took He ranked 83rd out of 89 and was included in the negative rating of regional leaders. This fall, he will run for a second term.

🔸 Yesterday Penza visited Deputy Commander of the Volga District of the Russian National Guard Vitaly SadovnikovTo assess the "level of interaction between the regional government and territorial administration in ensuring law and order and public safety." On May 29, the commander of the Volga District of the Russian National Guard visited the city. Sergey Prosyanik.
